The first day Italy went on lockdown in 2020 for the Coronavirus pandemic was the day I was scheduled to fly back to the USA.
When my daughter and I arrived at the Milan airport, it was deserted!

After boarding, which took about 5 minutes, we found out that only 10 passengers were on board.

We had the airplane all for ourselves.

It was really strange…

Once in New York airport, this is how the customs area looked like:

We have been fortunate to never contract the disease.
Crazy times!

I was at an airport then too. It was rather spooky being the only one around. I felt a bit unsafe, although there must have been security watching. My gate from Portland home is always the furthest one possible too.

Wow! What a day to travel. I don’t think those Customs lines have ever been that empty. Great photos, We haven’t had covid, either, and I’ve traveled a few times.

Glad we also never had it, despite some of our family members had it twice.

That whole time was so weird. I’m glad to hear you’ve dodged Covid. I’ve gotten it, but only after I was vaccinated (so, much milder than it might have been).

yes, it was. And I worked the whole time through (essential worker). I’m shocked I never got it!

I’d had four vaccinations by the time I got it in 2023. It was still the sickest I’d ever been. I can’t imagine what it would have been like if I’d been unvaccinated. My county is pretty much always the one with the lowest vaccine rates in the state. It was for ‘flu this year too.
